From the desk of Adam C. Mock

Welcome back, readers! Hopefully you’re all enjoying checking out what’s new and exciting in the world of Medallion on a more frequent basis, as we’ve begun updating our site twice a month.

With all that happens around here, we’ll need the extra space just to have room for all the juicy goodness!

So, if you recall earlier in the month we asked if it was a good idea for Paul and me to get choked out by legendary MMA referee “Big” John McCarthy. The poll results so far show:

Remember, if I was in the wrong, my lady gets taken out to dinner. If I was in the right, mayhap I can convince her that it is I who should be taken out to dinner? Only time will tell so keep those votes coming until the end of the month!

If you missed the video, here it is:

(If you can't see the video, please click here to watch!)

Again, though—for the sake of my wife, Sara (love you, baby!)—who loves me and doesn’t want to see her man get choked out. Was this a good idea?

For those of you who are readers of RT Book Reviews, check out the December 2009 (#310) issue for a sweet article on the uber-talented team of Cherif Fortin and Lynn Sanders.

Fortin and Sanders are featured on pages 42 and 43 talking about their amazing work with our Medallion Masterpiece line.

Let me pause for a moment to say sometimes I find myself staring too long at Cherif. It’s only natural, and it’s not as devastating as looking directly into the sun. As a matter of fact, it’s been documented that Cherif’s beauty can be detected from a distance of 13.9 miles away. And to that I say, “You had me at hello, Mr. Fortin. You had me at hello.”

If you haven’t seen their work before, may we suggest you do your eyes a favor and pick up a copy of Passion’s Blood written AND illustrated by Fortin and Sanders and or

There Be Dragons by NY Times and USA Today best-selling author Heather Graham, which includes a FREE stellar bonus CD of Christmas songs by Heather Graham and the Slush Pile!

If you’re looking for the perfect Christmas gift for that special someone that says, “Why can’t you be into me the way I’m into you,” then I’d suggest buying both books for them instead of the Snuggie you were going to get them. If they get cold, they can cuddle up to you while they read their new Medallion Masterpieces. Just our way of saying we care.

What else do we care about? The 50 and up crowd.

For the first time Medallion Press attended the AARP Vegas@50+ show on October 22–24. We were part of the Books for Grown-ups pavilion headed up by our friends at PW (www.publishersweekly.com). On hand were Heather Lewis-Eng (vice president of Medallion Press and the voice of reason in Vegas), Sam Nuccio (operations director of special events and lovable oaf), and myself.

Motivational speaker and Medallion author Staci Boyer joined us to present a preview of her 2010 self-help release, Motiv8n U. Active adults were very eager to meet Staci and hear how the principles in her upcoming book could be applied to their lives.

Even Ted Lange (Isaac the bartender from The Love Boat) stopped by to get in on the action.

Not to mention Staci dropped by to say hello to Al Roker.

They were also very eager to meet Sam who is currently our guinea pig going through the Motiv8n U principles. You can support Sam and follow his journey at: www.motiv8nu.com and at these social media outlets.

Sam was more eager to test out a Rascal and cruise around the show with his shirt unbuttoned.

What a handsome man.

Meanwhile, Heather and I were fortunate enough to attend a very nice luncheon at TAO with the president of AARP, Jennie Chin Hansen, and AARP CEO, A. Barry Rand.

The AARP show proved to be a worthwhile experience for Medallion as we met a lot of wonderful people and had a blast!

We’ve also had a blast revamping our “contact” page. If you haven’t had the chance yet, go ahead and check it out. As hard as we work around here, we like to make sure our sense of humor and creativity remain intact. You know what they say, “All work and no play makes Adam’s ADD go crazy and then he wonders why he forgot to bring his lunch to work and can’t decide whether or not to dress Cause Casual for work and represent Triple Threat or sport his Calvin Klein dress shirt and dress pants so Jim can look at him in awe and . . .” But I digress.

We encourage you to feel free to follow any of us on Twitter or request our friendship on Facebook. You may not learn a lot about publishing, but you’ll make a few new friends. And we could all use some friends.

Peace and love,
